Why not be Healthy? part 2

Continuing from the previous entry, health is the natural state of all living things. Certainly we are not all born with the same genetic endowments and some of us suffer from congenital or adult onset diseases and disabilities. The fact is however that the vast majority of factors contributing to poor health are self induced. Think about it, over fifty percent of the population is obese and yet diet is a choice. Obesity is a leading cause of heart failure, diabetes, breathing difficulty, joint failure, low self esteem, and the list goes on. We live in a society in which a person can tease me for being bald (hereditary), and yet I am not supposed to remind them that they are fat (choice). Many will inflate their chest at the previous statement and self righteously proclaim that obesity is also hereditary. Yes, there are extremely rare genetic conditions which can lead to obesity, however being rare; very few can legitimately claim this excuse. The predisposition to obesity lays in the inheritance of your family’s diet and fitness habits, not in their genes. Diet is a choice.
Behavior is a choice,
Lifestyle is a choice.
I’m not saying this to offend anyone. On the contrary, my goal is to incite others to not only take responsibility, but to take action. I have been requested to be in four different diet and fitness e-books. Though the requests were flattering, I turned them down in succession believing that the information should be free; I don’t want to sell it. A quick read of one of my earlier web sites, www.rippedabs.net will lay out in simply terms most of what you will find in any diet e-book, and it’s free. Yes, I need to update the site, which I intend to do soon, but ignore the layout and read the text. Many have, and have written back to tell me of their improved health and self esteem. That is all the payment that I need.
