Steroid Information at Lift for Life?

If you have ever seriously explored the Lift for Life.com site, then you know that I have included several pages about steroids. But have you ever asked yourself why a site which aims to be the most complete site on the internet in the interest of Natural Bodybuilding would actually include a “steroid ranking chart”, or a “steroid profiles” page?
I’ll tell you why. Because it draws visitors and I consider it similar to a minister preaching outside of a bar. Every day I’m saddened and simultaneously surprised at the number of times that the steroid profiles page is accessed. It typically ranks just above a page titled “Support Natural Bodybuilding”.
Steroids are a serious problem and anyone who fails to acknowledge this is seriously deluded. The drug / steroid, epidemic has reached down to the level of grade school as more and more teenagers seek a drug solution as a means of coping or accomplishing.
Quoting from myself from a study that I authored,
“The media’s lavish attention to sporting hero’s, elevating them to celebrity status, has not been without its trickle down effect. The win at any cost mentality is now prevalent at the high school level and beyond. The annual “Monitoring the Future” survey conducted by the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research suggest that the use of steroids among high school students increased throughout the 1990’s before dropping slightly in 2003 (University of Michigan, Monitoring the Future – 2004 Drug Trends). It should be noted that the slight drop was evidenced in eight and tenth grades only with a marked increase in steroid use among twelfth graders. The study further stated that 45% of 12th graders did not believe that steroid use posed a serious health risk. A Newsweek analysis of the 2003 data suggests that over 300,000 high school students have used anabolic steroids (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6700913/site/newsweek/).”
So, yes, the Lift for Life.com “Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness” site includes steroid information, and many people enter the site through the steroid pages. It is my hope that the word “Natural”, sprinkled liberally throughout the site, coupled with the physique examples of the natural athletes (models and profiled athletes), will give those considering the acquisition of dangerous and illegal substances pause to consider the natural, and healthy alternative.
